Why I Bet Everything on Voice AI — And Why You Should Pay Attention
There is a moment every founder remembers — the moment you stop hedging your bets and go all in. For me, that moment came with voice AI.
The Gap Nobody Was Filling
For over two decades, Dragon NaturallySpeaking dominated voice dictation at £699/year. It was enterprise-grade, expensive, and inaccessible to most people. When Nuance discontinued the consumer version, millions of users — especially those with RSI, disabilities, and accessibility needs — were left stranded.
I saw that gap and I could not look away.
Building Genie 007
I built Genie 007 as a solo founder with zero funding. No team, no investors, no connections in tech. Just a clear problem and the stubbornness to solve it.
Genie 007 is not just voice dictation — it is voice-to-action. You speak, and it acts. On any website, in any app, across Windows, Mac, and Chrome. It works in 140+ languages. And it costs £40 one-time — not £699/year.
Why Voice AI Is the Future
We are at an inflection point. AI is moving from text-first to voice-first. The keyboard was a compromise — voice is how humans naturally communicate. Every major tech company is racing toward voice interfaces, but most are building for enterprise.
I am building for real people. Students, freelancers, people with disabilities, professionals who want to work faster. The people that big tech ignores.
What I Have Learned
1. Solve a real problem. Not a theoretical one. Talk to people who are actually struggling.
2. Price for your audience. Your pricing tells customers who you are before they ever use your product.
3. Ship fast. My first version was rough. Version 10 is what people love. You cannot iterate on something that does not exist.
4. Build in public. Share the journey. People connect with founders, not corporations.
5. Stay solo if you can. No meetings about meetings. No consensus required. Just build, ship, learn, repeat.
The Bet
I bet everything on voice AI because I believe it is the most underserved, highest-potential space in consumer tech. The tools people use every day — email, documents, browsing — are all waiting to be voice-enabled.
If you are a founder sitting on the fence about your idea — stop sitting. The best time to build was yesterday. The second best time is now.
